1837-A meeting is held at Fort Snelling to negotiate the sale of lands east of the Mississippi River.

1858-Polk County is established.

1907-The Western Federation of Miners calls a strike on the Mesabi iron range.

1934-2 are killed and 67 injured in a clash between Police and Strikers.

1940-Minnesota holds its first Aquatennial.
