The Gophers got a great pitching performance from freshman Lexi Chase, as she struck out 16 batters, and allowed only two hits in the complete-game shutout performance.

Chase got help early in the first when Belle Berg smashed a no-doubt leadoff home run to give the Gophers a 1-0 lead. The Gophers plated two more runs in the second when McKennna Daniels scored on a double off the bat of Haley Goetzinger. Goetzinger then scored on a sacrifice play from Berg.

The Gophers scored another one in the fifth, and then two more in the sixth on a two-rbi double by Shelby Isensee.

The Warriors threatened early when Adriana Reinhart led the game off with a walk, and advanced to second on a steal, but Caledonia/Spring Grove couldn't get anything going. In the seventh, the Warriors had runners on first and second with two outs, but Chase stuck out the final batter to end the game.

Both teams are still in contention in the double-elimination format. The Gophers will take on Cotter at 2pm on Friday, while the Warriors will take on Plainview-Elgin-Millville at the same time. Both games will be played in Chatfield.
