It will be here before you know it.  We'll be slippin' and slidin' down the highway.  Today is the final day of Winter Hazard Awareness Week in Minnesota, and the topic is winter driving.  The Minnesota Department of Public Safety recommends carrying a winter driving survival kit in your vehicle; a complete list of suggested items is available on the Minnesota Department of Public Safety website.
They also recommend preparing your vehicle for winter travel by checking tire pressure and keeping your gas tank at least half full.  If you will be traveling a long distance, tell someone where you are going, your route and anticipated time of arrival.  Should you become stranded, stay with your vehicle. Trying to walk for help in a storm can be dangerous.  Hang a brightly colored cloth from your antenna or out the window to attract help. Call 911 for help and follow the emergency dispatcher's instructions.  These and many other winter driving survival tips are available on the Minnesota Department of Public Safety website.  Be aware of approaching winter weather conditions, be cautious and drive safely this winter.
