Dodge Center, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Triton High School student was arrested late last night for making threatening statements earlier in the day. A statement issued by Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose indicates his office was notified around 11 o’clock last night about alleged threats made by the student. The information was that he had told other students verbally and through Snapchat that they should stay away from school today because he was going to harm people.

The juvenile boy was located at his family’s home and taken into custody shortly before midnight. The Sheriff says he admitted making the threatening statements but also stated that it was not serious with the threats. After additional interviews with witnesses and the teenager, investigators concluded he apparently acted alone in making the threats.

Sheriff Rose is thankful Triton students stepped forward and alerted authorities, “We take every threat like this seriously, and applaud those involved in reporting these threats. This incident serves as an important reminder to students and parents to always report threats or behavior like this to the Sheriff’s Office.”

The high school student, whose name remains confidential,  is currently being held in the juvenile holding facility in Rochester and is expected to make an appearance in Dodge County Juvenile Court today. At this point, it’s unclear what charges he might face.
