The Stewartville Tigers were able to outlast the GMLOK Bulldogs to get a 1-0 win in 8 innings Monday evening in Stewartville on Cool 104.

Zane Stier and Drew Copley were fantastic on the hill for Stewartville and GMLOK. Stier threw all eight innings for the Tigers, giving up four hits, walked one and struck out six. Copley pitched five scoreless innings for GMLOK, struck out nine and allowed just two hits.

Nathan Johnson was the hero for Stewartville, has he hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to walk-off the Bulldogs.

The Tigers and Bulldogs threatened to score runs just a few times in the game. The Bulldogs put runners on 1st and 2nd with one out in the fourth, but Stier was able to keep them at bay. In the bottom of the 5th, Stewartville was able to get runners at first and second with one out but failed to capitalize.

It looked as if the Tigers were going to cash in a run in the sixth, with runners at 2nd and 3rd with one out. Yet, a sharp grounder created a play at the plate, and the Bulldogs were able to keep things scoreless.

Trent Dahnert led off the eighth with a walk for Stewartville, followed by a Braxton Ramaker bunt single. Drew Simmons walked to load the bases, then Johnson cashed in for the win.

Corey Millete picked up the loss for GMLOK, giving up the lone run of the game in 2 and 1/3 inning of work. He also struck out two.

The Bulldogs had a few chances to move base runners, but a big double play did them in. GMLOK had a runner on 1st with one out in the top of the eighth, and when Reid Krugel his a short pop-up to center. Adam Beagle of Stewartville was able to chase it down and catch it, then fired a bullet to first to double up Millete at first.

From there, Stewartville went into the home-half of the frame and earned the win.

Copley will brilliant on the mound again, and also roped a double at the plate, but Stier was able to work eight great innings to get the win. Stewartville is now 7-3 on the season, while GMLOK falls to 8-2.
