The back and forth action ended with a 3-1 win for Spring Grove, but the Lions were matched swing for swing in each set by Houston. The Lions took the first set and were one point away from taking a 2-0 lead, but then Houston came storming back to take the next three points and even things up at 1.

In the pivotal set three, the Lions got some big kills from Mariah Edgington and Alyssa Johnson, while Houston got some big swings from Ariel Scanlan and Jennifer Albrecht, but the Lions were able to take control with a 6-5 lead and never looked back to a 25-17 win.

Spring Grove went back and forth in set four with Houston. The Lions led for a majority of the set, but Houston did a really good job of keeping points alive, scrambling and tieing things up at 18. From there, Spring Grove was able to take a 25-20 win.

The tough battle proved that Southeast Minnesota has some premier volleyball teams in a match that was made on big plays. It seemed when Spring Grove needed a kill they went to Edgington, who led the team with 13 kills, while Houston went to Albrecht who had eight.

The Hurricanes had a balanced attack with Albrecht, Scanlan and Emma Geiwitz who led the offense.

The Lions moved to 22-3 with the win while Houston fell to 11-7.
