Lanesboro, MN (KROC AM News) – The City of Lanesboro's businesses has thrown its support behind its first industrial hemp business.

5th Sun Gardens is a part of the Minnesota DNR’s industrial hemp pilot program, and the city’s Chamber of Commerce, along with some other small businesses held a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday night to officially welcome the business to the city.

According to Learfield News Service, the business is run by Luis Hummel, who states that it is an organic farm that uses sustainable practices to grow hemp that is less than .3% THC.

Minnesota’s neighboring state, Wisconsin, is already a hemp growing state while Iowa just legalized industrial hemp production.
