Researching today's rock n roll history, I came across this tidbit.  December 12, 2011, singer Barry Manilow underwent surgery to have torn abductor muscles in both hips repaired.  He stated "That's what you get when you jump around to 'Copacabana' for thirty years!"  This lead to more research to find out more about Manilow.  Here is what I learned.  Manilow was born Barry Alan Pincus June 17, 1943, making him 73 years of age.  Wow, I truly did not believe he was that old.  Manilow has had 47 top 40 singles throughout his career.  He started as a jingles singer; you heard him years ago singing for State Farm Insurance, Band-Aid (I am stuck on Band-Aid); Dr. Pepper and the famous "you deserve a break today" for McDonald's.  Some of his biggest hits are "Mandy", "I Write the Songs", "Weekend in New England" and "I Can't Smile Without You".  In April 2015, Barry Manilow married his partner/manager Garry Kief.  There you have it - a brief history lesson on the extremely talented Barry Manilow.
