Rochester Woman Crowned Miss Minnesota
Eden Prairie, MN (KROC-AM News) - A young woman from Rochester will be representing Minnesota in the next Miss America Scholarship Pageant.
Madeline Van Ert was crowned as the 2016 Miss Minnesota during the state scholarship pageant at Eden Prairie High School’s Performing Arts Center on Saturday.
The University of Minnesota student is a 2014 graduate of Mayo High School and pursuing degrees in Political Science and Latin. Madeline is also a legislative intern at the Minnesota and Student Assistant to the Dean at the Walter Mondale School of Law.
On her way to winning the Miss Minnesota title, Van Ert won the pageant’s competition for lifestyle and fitness, along with the talent award for her piano and vocal performance of “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. 26 young women competed in this year’s Miss Minnesota event.
