Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - It appears a woman was using a unit at a Rochester storage business to store items she stole from other customers at the site.

The case came to light last Friday when a Rochester woman went to her unit at Carefree Mini-Storage along South Broadway and discovered the lock was broken and the door was open. Items she said were missing included a TV, laptop, and jewelry.  A police officer took her report and left.

A short while later, the victim returned with a new lock and saw a woman removing a tote bag from her unit. When the victim confronted the would-be thief, the woman took off running. The victim and her boyfriend found the woman in the parking lot of the nearby Wal-Mart store and a brief fight broke out. The thief fled before officers arrived.

They later checked the storage business and discovered several other units had been broken into. They found some of the victim’s items in a unit that also contained property believed to have been taken from the other units.
