Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – A significant traffic disruption in Rochester is scheduled to begin Friday.

The city will be shutting down a section of Civic Center Dr at 6:00 PM and it is scheduled to be closed for as long as two weeks.

The closure means no through traffic will be allowed between 4th and 11th avenues.

The city Public Works Dept. says “This unexpected closure is due to unforeseen underground conditions that impact the utility installation across Civic Center Drive at 6th Avenue NW as originally planned.”

Public Works Dir. Chris Petree says, “We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we make the necessary adjustment to move forward with this project. We are aware of the inconvenience and crews will be working as diligently as possible to get the road re-opened.”
