Relay for Life started in 1985 when one person, Dr. Gordy Klatt, took a step on a track in Tacoma Washington. He walked and ran for 24 hours straight and raised over $27,000 for cancer research. Today, over $5 billion has been raised from all Relay for Life events across the United States.

Klatt's legacy will live on through the Fillmore County Relay for Life. Volunteers have stepped up, and this year's event will be held in Rushford on July 28th. Everyone has been affected in some way by cancer, so you can join the event and help KNOCK CANCER OUT.

Opening Ceremonies start at 6pm at the Historic Depot in Rushford. There will be a moment of recognition to those who are Survivors and caregivers. All of the Fillmore County Relay Teams will have an opportunity to have their photo taken for special mementos. There will also be a special tribute to those who have lost their battle to cancer with balloons, To Heaven and the traditional Luminaria Ceremony.

The night will also include celebration, live music, a silent auction and interactive games with prizes and plenty of food.

Join the Fillmore County Relay for Life teams and help them KNOCK OUT CANCER!  More details can be found on Facebook.

Ben and I will be there, too! Make sure you stop over and say hello. It will be a night to remember.
