The Chatfield Gophers looked to close out a Three Rivers Conference game against the Southland Rebels, but the Rebels were able to make a couple big plays late in the game en route to a 70-65 victory.

The Gophers led by four with one minute to go, but Lee Wilson started a 9-0 run for the Rebels to get the win. Wilson was able to create a late turnover that brought the Rebels within 65-63, and then the Rebels scored the final seven points to win. They won the game at the free throw line late.

The Gophers were trailing at the half 44-35, but were able to take the lead at 63-61 late in the game. It was their first lead of the second half. The Rebels were just able to make more plays late in the game to get the victory.

Chatfield played well. They were able to jump out to an early lead in the first half, that had four ties and nine lead changes in the first half. They Rebels finished the half on a  13-7 run to take the 44-35 lead into the break.

The second half started out slow, but Chatfield was able to make plays and get big shots from Parker Fossum (14 points) and Dillion Bance (21 points) The Rebels were just able to get a couple more plays late, especially from Wilson (13 points) and Jared Landherr (16 points).

A couple of late turnovers cost the Gophers the game. They had an opportunity to tie the game at 68 with a three from Bance, but it didn't fall. The Rebels were then able to ice the game at the free-throw line.
