Parts of Southeast Minnesota were hammered by snow over the past two days, including parts of Houston County were over 14 inches fell.

The National Weather Service reports that 14.5 inches were recorded in Caledonia as of 7 p.m. Tuesday, while 13.5 inches of snow fell in Spring Grove as of 4:20 this morning.

The huge snowfall caused several closings and delays across the area including a majority of schools closing on Tuesday and running two-hours late on Wednesday.

Those in Fillmore County did not receive nearly as much snow as neighboring Houston County, but Peterson recorded 8.9 inches of snow as of 8 a.m. Wednesday and Preston had 7.9 inches of snow as of 8 a.m.

We last checked in on the snow totals Tuesday morning, and the snow continued to fall all the way into the afternoon. Road conditions were dangerous Wednesday morning after the wind picked up and created blowing snow and ice across many roadways in the area.
