1840-Father Lucien Galtier arrives in St. Peter's to organize a Catholic Church.
1877-Governor John S. Pillsbury makes this day a day of prayer to help relieve the state from the swarms of locusts that have bothered farmers for the past 4 years.
1896-Edward J. Thye is born. He would become the 26th governor of the State, and the first farmer to hold the office.
1924-2 agents are arrested for stealing $100,000 worth of confiscated liquor.
1972-Vietnam War protesters staged a demonstration at Honeywell, Inc.
