1836-Wisconsin Territory is established.

1891-Itasca State Park is established, Minnesota's first state park.

1899-Minnesota passes the nation's first direct primary election law.

1921-The Minnesota Lynching Bill is passed.  It says law enforcement can be removed from duty for not stopping a lunching and that damages may be recovered by the victim's family.

1949-Jessica Lange is born.  In 1995, she won an Oscar for best actress in the movie Blue Sky.
