Its been a busy month so far, today is no shortage

1897-The Red River crests in Moorhead

1905-The Battleship Minnesota is launched at Newport News, Virginia

1911-Melvin Calvin is born in St. Paul.  Calvin discovered the details of the photosysthesis and would be awarded a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1961

1953-The first ever sit-down strike happens at the Minnesota State Prison in Stillwater
