An annual ranking of the best states to live has Minnesota tied with New Hampshire at number 1 this year.

Politico magazine issues the rankings to coincide with the State of the Union Address and credited Minnesota’s improvements in employment, infant mortality, and obesity rates for the move up from last year’s number 2 ranking.

Iowa is ranked seventh this year, North Dakota is 15th, Wisconsin is 17th, and South Dakota is listed 21st. Mississippi is at the bottom of the list.
