Roseville, MN (KROC AM News) – A Twin Cities area man who has been working as a Lyft driver is getting some new wheels - and also plans to help his homeland after winning a big lottery prize.

Kodjo Ayewonou bought a Mega Millions ticket for the game’s June 4th drawing and won $1-million. He says he bought just one ticket for the drawing.

According to the Minnesota State Lottery, Ayewonou turned in the ticket Thursday and when asked what he planned to do with his winnings, he replied: “Buy a Jeep!”

But he also plans to spend some of his money on a charitable cause.

The State Lottery says the immigrant from Togo, West Africa said he will donate money to a non-profit organization that he started—the Ebenezer Charity Foundation in Coon Rapids—which provides sustainable access to clean water for people living in Africa.

Ayewonou said he has been working and praying for more money to help the cause. He said they brought food and clothing to the people at the Hiawatha camp last year and have plans to dig wells in Africa and help educate orphans in Togo.
