1823-William G. Le Duc was born in Wilkesville Ohio. He Moved to St. Paul in 1850 where he would open a Law Office and a Bookstore and published 3 yearbooks. He Moved to Hastings in 1857 where his mill was the first to offer spring wheat flower.
1855-Minnesota's Republicans meet in St. Anthony for their first formal meeting where they discuss the group's strong antislavery stance.
1916-Eugene J. McCarthy is born in Watkins. He would serve in Congress for 2 decades.
1928-St. Paul's New Radio Station, KTSP, starts a great broadcasting career in the Northwest with a 7 hour programming.
1980-Walter H. Deubener, the inventor of the handled grocery bags, dies in St. Paul. He owned the S. S. Kresge store, St. Paul's first cash and carry store.
1998-Ferocious tornado touchdowns strike communities eastward from Nobles to Wabasha Counties in south-central Minnesota
