The Fillmore County Relay for Life was yet another success, with several people braving the rain for the all-night event that raised money for cancer research in Rushford.

I was lucky enough to emcee the relay for the second year in a row and this year was the just as fun as the last. From the games played throughout put on by MiEnergy, or the opening ceremonies and the balloons to heaven. Fun was had throughout the entire night after the rain finally let up.

The night started with a steady rainfall, but luckily we had a huge tent that was put up and covered the entire stage along with plenty of space for all of the survivors, caregivers and all of the walking teams that helped raise money for a great cause.

Once the rain let up, we were able to have the balloons to heaven, which was such a special moment as attendees wrote messages to their loved ones that they have lost to cancer.

I was lucky enough to talk to many people and was able to hear their stories and how cancer has affected their lives. It was a great experience and I hope everyone enjoyed the relay as much as I did!
