We've all passed it hundreds of times.  But have you pulled in and checked it out?  Built by the Minnesota Department of Highways in 1934 and located on nine acres at the top of Duschee Hill on highway 16 in Lanesboro, Inspiration Point is, well, inspirational.  Duschee Hill is one of the largest hills in the area and offers unsurpassed views of the surrounding area.  The Lanesboro Leader November 22, 1934 published  "This will be a beautiful scenic spot and no doubt will be a popular place for picnic parties and steak dinners when the weather is fine".  Indeed!

Look through your binoculars amid oak and evergreen trees for spectacular views of pastures, forests, church spires, silos and farmlands.  Inspiration Point is the perfect backdrop for wedding photos.  A quiet place to read a book under a shade tree.  An intimate setting for couples to take a stroll hand-in-hand.  Even the view on the way out of the park is very pretty.

While the views are outstanding anytime of year, right now is a great time to visit Inspiration Point before leaves appear on the trees hindering the views a bit.  Whenever you need a quiet place, a site to get in touch with nature, or a wonderful backdrop for photos, take the short drive to Inspiration Point in Lanesboro.
