There's a movement underway for the development or creation of an automotive museum in Rochester.

Eric Pool is the driving force behind it. He loves classic cars and dreams of creating a place where car lovers can view and learn about them. He pointed out to Rich Peterson on 'Rochester's Good Morning' on Monday that no such museum exists in Minnesota, let alone Olmsted County.

He's developed a website for the museum.

At this point, there's no specific dollar amount needed before breaking ground. He would like to see some land donated as that would have an impact on the total dollars needed for the project to become a reality.

He also said, "We are investigating typical automotive museum building costs and should start to have some rough estimates soon. Because this effort is largely dependent on donors and corporate sponsors it is also difficult to identify a target date. With the right donations it could happen soon but will likely take a number of years."
