Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota State Patrol has released a report on a fatal traffic crash that occurred near Mankato Wednesday evening.

As of Friday evening, it is the only fatal crash listed by the State Patrol since the start of the Thanksgiving holiday travel period. It was a head-on collision involving a car and a small SUV on Highway 22 just south of Mankato around 5:30 p.m.

The State Patrol says 59-year-old Wendy Pearson of Mankato was the driver of the car and was pronounced dead after being transported to St. Mary’s Hospital. The driver of the second vehicle, 64-year-old Lynnette Engeswick of Mankato, was brought to the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Mankato with what were described as life-threatening injuries. Her 64-year-old husband somehow escaped the crash uninjured.
