It was a busy day across the state of Minnesota as election sites were open all day for the August Primary.

In Fillmore County's lone local election, Heidi Jones was the front-runner for the County Auditor/Treasurer position.

With all 37 precincts reporting, Jones took nearly half (just over 48 percent) of the 2,609 votes counted, while Brian Hoff ended up with 34 percent of the vote and Marc Prestby about 17 percent.

In Houston County, Ken Visger took just over 41 percent of the votes as the front-runner for the District 4 Houston County Commissioner.

In the Governor's race, Jeff Johnson locked down the GOP nod and Tim Walz won the bid on the DFL side to set up the showdown in November for Governor Mark Dayton's seat, while the GOP's Jim Hagedorn will take on the DFL's Dan Feehan for Tim Walz seat in Congress.
