The #3 seeded Hayfield Vikings and the #6 seeded Kingsland Knights found themselves in a battle Wednesday night in the Girls Section Quarterfinals. The Hayfield Vikings were able to come back and hit some big shots down the stretch to get a 57-49 win over Kingsland.

With Hayfield leading 48-47, Lauren Buchholtz attacked from the high post and scored to give Kingsland a 49-48 lead. That lead wouldn't last more than 25 seconds, as Hayfield would push the basketball up the floor and Emma Holst drilled a 3 to give Hayfield a 51-49 lead.

That bucket would be all that Hayfield needed to secure the win down the stretch.

The first half was all about scoring as the Knights put up 36 points to take a 36-31 lead into the break. Lauren and Ellie Buchholtz each had 13 points in the first half, while Hayfield was led by Abby Stasko.

Hayfield struggled to score early in the half, but Stasko was able to attack and get to the rim for 15 first-half points that kept the Vikings in it.

The Vikings cut the lead down right at after the break and were able to come away with a 57-49 win. They will take on #2 Goodhue Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Lauren Buchholtz led the way for Kingsland with 17 points while Ellie added in 16. Stasko finished with 23 while Holst had 16 for Hayfield.
