Eelpout Tourney Coming to Walker

Ok, I give up.  What is an eelpout?  The Minnesota DNR definition of burbot (eelpout) is "with its slimy skin and tendency to wrap itself around your arm, the burbot is considered by many anglers to be the "ish" of fish.  But this cousin to the saltwater cod, commonly known as eelpout, is a remarkable predator that is excellent to eat."  I'm not a fan of anything slimy that will wrap itself around my arm.  But thousands of folks ARE eelpout fans.

In fact, the 38th annual International Eelpout Festival is being held in Walker, Minnesota February 23-26 on Leech Lake.  Ice fishing not your thing?  This festival is anything but boring featuring live music, mechanical bull riding tournament, beer pong, kids perch jerk, sled dog races, and I'm sorry for mentioning this ladies, a bikini ice fishing show.  If any of this sounds fun to you, hang the gone fishing sign on the door and head up to Walker for eelpout fishing at its finest.
