Summer is fast approaching, and if you have lived in southeast Minnesota, you know what that means!

Our small Minnesota town's populations grow because people just want to be here. If you are thinking about making Preston a stop on your summer travels, here are 5 things you might want to add to your plans while you're here:

1. First and foremost, bring along your fishing pole. Preston is Minnesota's Trout capital for a reason. If you're staying for a day, or even a week, make plans to spend an afternoon sitting on a lawn chair right next to the Root River.

2. If your feeling hungry, make a stop up to the Branding Iron Restaurant. A staple restaurant here in Preston, it's located right atop a hill, so you get a great view of the city while you enjoy your lunch or dinner.

3. What's a trip to Preston without spending a day on the bike trail? And trust me, there is no shortage of bike trails. Stop at the trail head here in Preston to start your trip. Bike trails can take you everywhere.

4. Take a walk in downtown. Downtown Preston is no sprawling metropolis, but with loads of shops, why wouldn't you?

And number 5, what's a vacation without a little golfing. Just a few short miles outside of town, Preston does have its very own golf course. A tucked away, nine-hole course that is sure to challenge golfers of any level.

And that's just a start! The best way to get out and explore Preston is do just that. Hop in your car and make the trip to Preston. Get out and find your own adventure.
