The Dover-Eyota Eagles used their high-flying offense to build a lead and take down the Lewiston-Altura Cardinals in a thriller on Cool 104 Friday night 27-24.

The Eagles had passing plays of 70, 78 and 66 yards that all went for touchdowns and two of those touchdowns were from incredible runs after the catch from Jack Studer. Brady Williams was terrific as well, showing his arm strength and ability to make plays with his feet.

With the game tied up at 14, the Eagles were able to put together a methodical drive, that ended with a touchdown on the back of Isaac Bushman to make it 20-14. The Cardinals were able to force a safety to make it 20-16, but couldn't capitalize on the next possession.

The Eagles were able to put one more big play together on the 66-yard strike to Studer to make it 27-16. The biggest play of the game came on a hustle play from Brady Williams. Lewiston-Altura's Marcus Weaver intercepted a Willams pass and got all the way to inside the Eagles 20, but Williams was able to chase him down and strip the ball from Weavers grip and give the offense another chance to burn some clock.

The Cardinals were not going down without a fight, using a strong running game that worked well all night. Noah Herber, Evan Daly and Danner Brummer moved the chains, and then Weaver hit Hunter Gerdes for a 10-yard score to make it 27-24. The Cardinals had a chance at a hail mary late but couldn't connect and the Eagles took the victory.

Lewiston-Altura's offense was hot out of the gates, scoring on the first two possessions, getting a touchdown run from Herber, and Weaver connected with Griffan Merchlewitz for another score early in the game. The big plays the Eagles were able to create were just too much.
