Ben grew up in Mabel, Minnesota before going on to get a degree from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. He spent much of his youth listening to Twins games on KFIL. Ben moved on and wrote articles for his college sports website and also wrote Rochester Honkers game summaries while interning with Townsquare Media in Rochester. Ben likes most all the sports, though he knows the letdown that is associated with the Minnesota teams. One of his first CD's was Alan Jackson, and you can hear a mix of country music, from Merle Haggard to Taylor Swift when Ben is on air.

Twins Winter Caravan: Photos!
Last night, I made it up to Rochester to see the Minnesota Twins Winter Caravan. It was a great night with some great folks: players, broadcasters, executives, and fans of the team packed in to get excited for the new season.
I can't wait to listen to a new season of Twins baseball on the radio this year. Dee...
Twins Star Staying?
The Minnesota Twins went through many off-season talks with the Los Angeles Dodgers in a potential trade of Brian Dozier, but it looks like he will stay. The Twins were hoping to bring a package of pitchers for their slugging second baseman, but it looks like that trade is definitely off the table with the Dodgers' trade for Rays second baseman Logan Forsythe...
Another Viking Pro Bowler!
The Vikings have another Pro Bowler! Linebacker Anthony Barr makes his second Pro Bowl in his first three seasons. Some of Barr's stats might show that the third-year UCLA man just completed his least statistically impressive season. Barr finished the season with 70 tackles, with a pair of sacks and a forced fumble on the season...
Former Twins Making Hall Next Year?
With the 2017 Hall of Fame Class announced Wednesday night, it's time to look ahead to next year. Players must be retired for six seasons to be on the ballot, and there is also a Veterans Committee that elects from the Golden Era every three years...
Feeling Nostalgic?
I have always been a man of routine, even in my childhood. My favorite show was "Arthur" on PBS Kids. Well, days go by and I can't always watch now and PBS hadn't been showing as many of the "classic" episodes. Now I'm able to watch the classics over the air and online...
Gophers Hire More Coaches
New head football coach P.J. Fleck announced yesterday the hiring of nine assistant coaches and four staff members. On offense, Coach added from his staff at Western Michigan: Kirk Ciarrocca (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach), Kenni Burns (running backs), Brian Callahan (tight ends), Matt Simon (receivers)...
What Makes a Hall of Famer?
Sunday night, I posted who I thought might be a shoe-in for enshrinement in Cooperstown. Here are some other interesting candidates that have made cases for themselves for entry into the Hall.
Roger Clemens
The Rocket played 24 years in the Majors, finishing with 354 wins and picking up 4,672 strikeouts in the process...
Who’s Hall Worthy?
The Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2017 will be announced on January 18th. The votes go members of the Baseball Writers Association of American (BBWAA). In the future, all members will have to reveal their votes (partly because nobody ever gets in unanimously, no matter how obvious the selection is), but this year it is optional...
Athletics Top Superlarks
Last night in girls basketball action, the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics defeated the Grand Meadow Superlarks 73-34. It was played on the new court in Grand Meadow, and that was quite impressive. As for the game, early on it was close, with turnovers on the first four possessions...
Melt Windshield Ice
After all the different precipitation we have gotten the past couple days, ice accumulated on my windshield. That's one thing - I can scrape some ice and sit in my car a couple minutes to warm up the windshield. But this ice got down in there so I couldn't use my windshield wipers-which is problematic with all the gunk on the road being sprayed from oncoming traffic...
