Undated (KROC AM News ) - Federal, state and local emergency management agencies will conduct an exercise Thursday that is part of annual Severe Weather Awareness Week that began Monday.

The exercise will involve two simulated tornado watches and warnings that will be issued to test the statewide warning and communications systems.

Here’s the schedule:

1:00 PM:  The National Weather Service will issue a simulated tornado watch

1:45 PM:  The National Weather Service will issue a simulated tornado warning and most cities and counties will activate outdoor warning siren systems as part of the drill.  The drill will end at 2 p.m.

6:55 PM:  Another simulated tornado warning will be issued for Minnesota and Wisconsin counties.

Residents, schools, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to take part in the drill by discussing their emergency plans in the event of severe weather.
