36 Minnesota Cities Affected by Wendy’s Restaurants Hack

The number of Minnesota Wendy’s restaurants that are among those listed as having had customer credit and debit card information stolen recently is now at 36. In total, more than 1,000 Wendy’s locations were affected by the incident.

Of the Minnesota locations that were hit in the security breach, several are in the Twin Cities and locations in Austin and Albert Lea have also been affected. Information that was stolen from these and the other affected restaurants includes credit card numbers, names, expiration dates and the three- or four-digit codes on the back of the cards that are used in online transactions.

Wendy’s is encouraging its customers who have purchased food at their restaurants using credit or debit cards to check their accounts for fraudulent activity. There have been reports of some customer’s cards being used for illegal purchases at other stores.

Fortunately, for those of us living in the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," the number of restaurants affected is small. Several other states were hit much worse by the breach, including California, where Wendy's locations in more than 60 cities were nailed in the hack.
