Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A developing storm system has already prompted the National Weather Service to post flash flood watches across areas of southern Minnesota, northern Iowa and Wisconsin.

The watch issued for the Rochester area will be in effect from 1 PM Thursday through late Thursday night.

Forecasters say the storm has the potential to produce torrential rains, and Rochester is included in an area where there is a potential for 3-5 inches of rain by late Thursday night. The National Weather Service forecasting models show the heaviest rains are expected to fall Thursday night from southeastern Minnesota through central Wisconsin.
