Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department is starting a new program that will enhance its law enforcement efforts through the addition of private video cameras around the city.

The department has signed an agreement with a company known as Securonet, which links police departments with businesses and other property owners with networked video security systems. The owners of the cameras are being asked to consider registering them, so the Police Department can request assistance in the event of a crime or other event.

It’s anticipated that most of the requests would center on stored video, although the Securonet Videolink program also has the capability to share real time camera feeds.
