Hoffman Estates, IL (KROC-AM News) - The Kmart store in Rochester has again been spared from the cutting block. The Illinois-based parent company of the Sears and Kmart store chains has released a list of 63 stores throughout the U.S. that are closing soon as the troubled retailers continue to struggle in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

Three stores from Minnesota are on the list. Sears locations in Brooklyn Center and Duluth along with a Kmart in Duluth are expected to shut down permanently by mid-September. Sears stores in Grand Forks North Dakota and Sioux Falls South Dakota are also slated to close after the completion of liquidation sales that are scheduled to begin in about two weeks.

Overall, the Sears Holding is shutting down 63 non-profitable stores in September. It previously indicated 72 stores would be on the list but removed 9 of them for further consideration.
