There's a "corn on the cob hack" going around and it's just plain out wrong. And with Plainview's Corn On The Cob Days coming up August 19th and 20th, it's important to bust this bologna!
Before I say much more, check  out this video of an AMAZING hack for eating corn on the cob.

The first time I watched this I was speechless.

I mean, what the flamin' hooty-hoo? This isn't eating corn-on-the-cob. This isn't a corn-on-the-cob eating hack. This is a way to get corn OFF the cob, and onto your plate, and mess onto your fingers.

I can get the corn all buttery and salty, stand it on end, and use a knife to get the corn off if I want it off the cob...and my hands don't get messy. So...WHY bother with this hack in the first place?

Plus, let's say your in Plainview on Sunday the 20th for the free sweetcorn from Lakeside Foods. You get in line, you grab your ear off the truck filled with fresh steamed sweet corn, you shuck it, you butter it with a paint-brush, you salt it from massive shakers, and then you...pull the kernels off with your fingers?

Just stop. This hack makes a mockery of one of our greatest foods. And the fun in eating Corn ON THE Cob.

ps - Two great ways to cook COTB - Unshucked, in the microwave for 3-5 minutes. Seriously. Amazing. Even better, husk on, in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes. It makes the corn even sweeter! According to Alton Brown, it's ready when, "...the husks start to brown and the ears yield to gentle pressure you're ready to shuck, butter, salt, eat, repeat.'
