Montrose, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota State Patrol is spreading the word about an incident that occurred earlier this month only a highway about a half hour west of Minneapolis.

A large trailer hitch fell off a truck on Highway 12 near Montrose and bounced over one vehicle before smashing through the windshield of another car. Photos show the heavy metal object partially penetrated the windshield right in front of the driver. Luckily, there were no injuries from what could have been a deadly incident.

The State Patrol says it serves as a good reminder to always pay attention while driving, noting the best defense against an unusual event is being attentive and constantly scanning the roadway ahead. Officials say it also serves as a reminder to regularly check that all items are securely attached to your vehicle.
