Rant Sports put together a list of the best athlete ever to come from each state, and there are a surprising number of athletes who have Minnesota connections. Four athletes listed as the best-ever to come from their home state played some, or all, or their professional sports careers in Minnesota!

Randall McDaniel was named as Arizona's best athlete ever. McDaniel, who was born in a Phoenix suburb and went to college at Arizona State University, played offensive line for the Minnesota Vikings for more than a decade. He finished his hall of fame career with Tampa Bay and is the only athlete from Arizona enshrined at Canton.

Another former Viking, Randy Moss, was selected as West Virginia's best athlete ever. Moss, raised in the small town of Rand, West Virginia, starred at Marshall University, was drafted by the Vikings in the first round of the 1998 NFL draft and spent the first seven seasons of his career in Minnesota. He also had a much shorter second stint with the Vikings that really isn't even worth mentioning!

Minnesota Twins legend Harmon Killebrew, who played the majority of his 22 seasons of Major League Baseball here in Minnesota, was named Idaho's best-ever athlete. Killebrew was born in Payette, Idaho, located in the western part of the state. He was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 1984 and spent his later years as a sports broadcaster before dying from cancer in 2011.

The Minnesota Timberwolves can also boast having had a state's best-ever athlete on their roster. Kevin Garnett, who was drafted by the Wolves in the first round of the 1995 NBA draft, grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, and went to high school in Mauldin, South Carolina. played in Minnesota for 12 seasons before stints with the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets. Like Moss, Garnett has returned to Minnesota for a second time. His return has been a little more fruitful, though. Along with being considered the best athlete to ever come out of South Carolina, most basketball fans would also consider him the best player the Minnesota Timberwolves have ever had.

As for the best athlete to ever come out of Minnesota? That would be Kevin McHale. Born and raised in Hibbing, Minnesota, McHale went on to star at the University of Minnesota and was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 1980 NBA draft. He spent his entire career in Boston and was on their successful title-winning teams of the 1980s.

What do you think? Was Kevin McHale Minnesota's best-ever athlete? If not, who would you choose?
