St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) -- A Minneapolis woman made history Thursday afternoon when she was officially promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.

Sandra Best is the first woman to achieve the rank in the Minnesota National Guard. Best, who previously held the rank of Colonel, will serve as the chief of staff for the Minnesota Air National Guard.

Her responsibilities include leading the 133rd Airlift Wing based in St. Paul and the 148th Fighter Wing in Duluth.
