Members of the defending WNBA Minnesota Lynx were in town Monday morning to announce that the team will be coming down to Rochester. On Mother’s Day, May 8, 2016, they will play an preseason exhibition game against the Washington Mystics at 4:00 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Center.

The Lynx delegation included team president Chris Wright, head coach Cheryl Reeve, and starting point guard and Minnesota native Lindsay Whalen. Wright made the official announcement at the Civic Center in front of several dozen members of the media and Rochester community.

Coach Reeve challenged the Rochester community to fill the Civic Center to its 5,000 seat capacity, saying, “Let’s get out there and let’s make May 8 such an amazing day for all of us – for your community and then, obviously, the Minnesota Lynx.”

Reeve also discussed the value and benefits that the Lynx enjoy through their partnership with Mayo Clinic, which offers the team some incredible perks that no other WNBA team enjoys.

Finally, Lindsay Whalen came to the podium to talk about the team’s excitement to be coming down to Rochester in May to play and about that afternoon’s opponent, the Washington Mystics.

Tickets for the game are already on sale through Ticketmaster. Word is that more than 800 had already been sold as of Monday afternoon, so if you are planning to go, don't wait until the last minute to try to get your tickets...
