Their slogan is 'We Have The Meats' and they certainly have expanded their menu selection beyond the roast beef that many of us know them for. Last year Arby's rolled out a venison sandwich. Now there is a popular online rumor that the fast-food restaurant chain is testing a new sandwich in our area, and it couldn't be more Minnesotan if true.

According to various food blogs online like Chewboom.com and Food & Wine, Arby's is testing a 'beer can chicken sandwich' in the Twin Cities market, along with Oklahoma and Georgia. The sandwich sounds pretty darn good with, according to Chewboom.com, "the 'Original Beer Can Chicken Sandwich' coming with beer-marinated smoked chicken with melted cheddar cheese, crispy onions, pepper bacon, lettuce, tomato and garlic aioli on a toasted specialty roll."

The other variety of the sandwich adds pit-smoked ham to the sandwich. Sadly Arby's isn't cooking its chicken in a Minnesota made beer. The meat instead is being marinated in Miller High Life. I guess it has dubbed itself 'The Champagne of Beers'.

I've made beer can chicken on the grill a few times and it is tasty! Hopefully, the sandwiches are just as good as the grilled version.

The real guesswork here deals with which locations in Minnesota are offering the sandwich. One blog Chewboom.com says Mankato, but a quick Google search says the Arby's location in Roseville. Not surprising, Arby's isn't tipping their hand either with no formal announcement having been made.

The Original Beer Can Chicken Sandwich per ChewBoom.com is priced at $5.49 while a combo meal is also available for $7.79. The sandwiches will be available at participating test locations through December 23, 2018.
