Don't like the candidates running for president? Why not throw your hat into the ring?

It's not as crazy as it sounds. It may seem like all the candidates (even those not named Trump) are rich, but, in reality, you don't need to be Mr. (or Mrs. Moneybags) to make play for the White House.

The final cost actually comes out to a little over $15,000, a surprisingly small sum when you consider what's at stake. The bulk of those funds serve a vital purpose, too -- it goes toward getting your name on the ballot in every state.

That's actually the easy part. As the video explains, how much is costs to win is a whole different ballgame. Between travel expenses, fundraising, the vague "administration," events, consulting and advertising, you'll need about $985 million -- or what Donald Trump would lovingly call "pocket change."

If it seems like candidates vying for the White House are hardly the average citizen, keep the $985 million figure in mind because the average citizen will most likely not make $985 million in his or her lifetime.

But, hey, if you want to be part of democracy in action and make a difference, why not start your campaign? Just make sure you were born in the U.S. and wait until you're 35. Then, be ready to become the leader of the free world.
