The man, the legend, the voice.  Bill Bentson hung up his headphones and turned off his mic Saturday August 19 for the final time for KFIL and KVGO.
Bill worked for our stations for an amazing 25 years.  He recalls that his first broadcast was in 1992 for Coaches Corner, which at that time was broadcast live from the Branding Iron Restaurant in Preston.  How times have changed.

Well known in southeast Minnesota and northern Iowa, at any given time throughout the summer months you could find Bill at area county fairs doing live remotes and eating kolaches.  He spent the fall and winter months doing color and play-by-play for high school sports broadcasts.  His knowledge of high school sports spans decades and he has many stories to tell.
I tuned in to Bill's final broadcast with us, the Spring Valley Ag Days parade on August 19.  He made reference to his retirement and in true Bentson form, concluded his broadcast by thanking his wife, Carol, "the matriarch of the family".
If you have any special stories to share about Bill, we'd love to hear them. Our #22 Coca-Cola cowboy will be missed here at the station. Best wishes on your retirement.  Hasta luego, Bill.
