It was a homecoming win for the Grand Meadow Superlarks as they were able to run their way to a big win over the Mabel-Canton Cougars 20-6 last night on 103.1 KFIL!

The Cougars were on the board first after connecting on a couple of big plays including a 35 yard run from Ethan Underbakke that set up a Drew Wyffels touchdown and a 6-0 lead for the Cougars.

Grand Meadow's defense was able to solve Mabel-Cantons attack after the first possession, but the Superlarks didn't get their first points on the board until late in the second quarter.

From there, the Superlarks were in control of the game. They controlled the ball well on offense handing it to their lead back, Nolan Skifter, who finished with 156 yards on 25 carries and three touchdowns.

With Skifter's running ability, along with the Superlarks defense holding the Cougars, it was a big win for Grand Meadow.

Early, it looked as if Mabel-Canton was going to put up big numbers early. They scored on their first possession and then intercepted Evan Oehlke on the Superlarks first possession. From there, it seemed as if the tide turned and Grand Meadow was able to control the clock to get the win.

Ryan Kuhn and Gavin Johnson played well in the backfield for Mabel-Canton, finishing with a combined 86 rushing yards on 24 carries. Their defense held strong a couple times, and the defensive line got some good pushes from Blake Henry to slow down the Superlarks' running game.

Grand Meadow will take on Spring Grove next week, while the Cougars will battle with Randolph.
