Gophers Hire More Coaches

New head football coach P.J. Fleck announced yesterday the hiring of nine assistant coaches and four staff members. On offense, Coach added from his staff at Western Michigan: Kirk Ciarrocca (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach), Kenni Burns (running backs), Brian Callahan (tight ends), Matt Simon (receivers). Ed Warinner will coach offensive line, but has not worked with Coach P.J. Fleck before.

On defense and special teams: Robb Smith (defensive coordinator/linebackers coach), Maurice Linguist (Defensive backs), Bryce Paup (defensive line) and Rob Wenger (special teams coordinator) have been added. Wenger and Smith have worked with Fleck at Western Michigan and Rutgers, respectively.

Also added to the staff were Gerrit Chernoff (general manager), Dan Nichol (head strength and conditioning coach), Marcus Hendrickson (director of player personnel) and Matt Childers (director of video. All these staff had been working with Coach Fleck at Western Michigan.
