Rochester,MN (KROC AM News) -  Is there an old- fashioned gasoline price war going on in Rochester?

Gasoline prices in Rochester took a large drop Wednesday, believed to be one of the biggest one day drops on record - if not THE largest.

Stations were selling regular for $2.60 to start the week. The price dropped to $2.56 Tuesday and fell again Wednesday morning to $2.44. Hours later, the price plunged to $2.24.

That’s about 40 cents lower than just a week ago. And according to Minnesotagasprices.com, Rochester had the lowest prices in the state by far as of late Wednesday afternoon, at 30 cents lower than the statewide average.

The current price in Rochester is the lowest since April, when the cost began a steady rise that continued into late July.
