It was a holiday break doubleheader in Mabel-Canton as the Fillmore Central girls took down the Mabel-Canton girls, while the Mabel-Canton boys beat Fillmore Central in the boys and girls double-header Friday night.

The girls got the evening kicked off with some back and forth action that saw the Falcons get the lead by getting the ball into the post. Kandace Sikkink was great throughout, getting a double-double with 24 points in the win for the Falcons.

The Cougars struggled to shoot from the outside and also had some players in foul trouble. Three Cougars fouled out and the Falcons were able to push the ball in the second half and get the win 64-55, doing most of their damage at the free-throw line.

The boys game was tough for both teams as it was a physical battle on the inside. Dylan Loppnow was great for Mabel-Canton getting many offensive rebounds and able to finish on the inside, and Ryan Kuhn did a great job of limiting Fillmore Central's leading scorer Josh Peters.

The Cougars took a 24-20 lead into the half and then continued that wire-to-wire win 50-35.

Loppnow had a double-double to lead the way, while Josh Peters led the Falcons in scoring.

It was a great atmosphere in Mabel for the double-header matchup, but a great way to spend a Friday night.
