Seeing as just 10 days away, here’s a Flashback Friday look back at one of my favorite holiday TV commercials from when I was a kid.

This commercial was a staple on TV during the holidays when I was growing up in the late 70’s and early 80’s-- it's the Norelco Santa commercial. These state-of-the-art (for their time, anyway) animated commercials were all over pretty much every TV network (although there really were only three back then) when I was a kid. They were always shown a lot during Green Bay Packer games on Sunday.

Unlike today, the NFL back then was pretty much just focused on the male audience. Why, back then, it was common knowledge that women didn't like football, and certainly wouldn't be watching it on TV. I'm guessing that's why this commercial for something manly like an electric razor was shown so often. (Although the commercial does also mention the Lady Norelco, but only as a gift suggestion for the guy to buy for his wife or girlfriend...)

The reason I liked it so much was because the commercial features Santa gliding along in a sled made from the head of the Norelco razor itself, complete with leaving a track through the snow. My brother and I loved taking our sleds to the big hill at the school near our house, so I was always excited to see this commercial featuring Santa and his Norelco sled.

And, because this commercial was produced way before the DVR or even the VCR was popular, you had to sit through all the commercials, live, as they aired! Do you remember this one?
