2014 ended with a cold snap, but the month of December was warmer than normal in the Rochester area.

The National Weather Service says the average temperature was almost 4-degrees above normal at 23.6 degrees. The warmest reading was 47-degrees, which was the high temperature on the 14th and 15th of December. The lowest temperature in December was recorded on the final day of the year when the mercury bottomed out at -13.

The precipitation total for the month was just over an inch, while 8.2 inches of snow fell at the Rochester Airport. That’s 4.3 inches below normal.
