The Grand Meadow Superlarks were able to connect on some big plays to launch themselves past the Lanesboro Burros Tuesday night in Section 1  9-man quarterfinals.

The 2 seeded Superlarks struck in the first quarter on a 60-yard touchdown pass, and were able to convert a 4th-and-5 into a touchdown en route to a 26-6 win over the 6 seeded Burros.

The defenses were shining early in this one, with numerous fourth-down stops and staying strong in the red zone the score was 0-0 in the first until quarterback Evan Ohelke connected with Dusty Coply for a 60-yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead.

The Burros were able to find the paydirt after a 15-yard touchdown run from Carson Swichtenberg, but the two-point attempt failed to make it 7-6 at the half.

Grand Meadow was able to come out of the half with a huge gain from Nolan Skifter, who finished the drive with a 2-yard touchdown and a 14-6 lead for Grand Meadow. As the third quarter started to wind down, the Burros found themselves looking for a big play of their own.

Swichtenberg was able to connect with Nate Betz for a 50-yard gain on third down and set themselves up in great field position, but a false start, intentional grounding and an interception took away the momentum, and the Superlarks were able to score twice in the fourth quarter to get the win.

Coply caught his second touchdown on a 4th-and-5, and then Skifter scampered in for his second touchdown of the night late in the game.

Skifter paced the Superlarks on the ground going for 106 yards and two scores, while Connor Ruen led the Burros with 99 yards on 16 carries. Ruen was the focal point of the offense for the Burros and did a great job exploding through the hole and gaining big chunks of yardage.

With the win the Superlarks will advance to take on Houston on Saturday night.
